Highfield WI, December 2019 members’ meeting

Monday 16th December 2019

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

28 members joined us for our last meeting of the year, bringing with them buffet style sweet and savoury food to share.  The committee provided mulled wine.  As usual the committee managed to create a speedy ‘pop-up’ Christmas atmosphere in the Pavilion complete with Christmas tree, fairy lights, table decorations and tea lights.

 

Julia & Cath opened the meeting by welcoming everyone.  Cath requested members read over the 2020 Resolutions outlined in the current edition of WI Life at some point over the Christmas holidays, as their preferences will need to be collected and forwarded immediately after our January meeting.  Cath noted that 2020 subs are now due; and that Angie had got payment details for members to take home.  Cath finished by thanking Laila for making a great job of putting together the 2020 Programme which has, for the first time ever, been distributed at tonight’s meeting.  Copies were put on the small tables for members to take home.

 

Members were then invited to help themselves to food and wine and got settled, ready for the Quiz.  This was not a team quiz, to keep things simple.  Committee members had come up with 5 questions under 4 different headings; Literary, Gardening, Seasonal food, Music.  Some questions proved quite challenging.  Liz Moore and Jenny Turner were our winners with three further runners-up – prizes were shared amongst these clever folk!

 

There was then more social time.

 

On departure members were given one of our logo-ed re-usable cloth bags to take home.

 

Our thanks to all our members who kindly donated a wrapped gift to send on to the Refuge – there was a huge pile of parcels tonight!

 

The evening came to an end around 9.45pm.
