Highfield WI meeting 11/01/2021

The express purpose of the meeting was to discuss the WI resolutions shortlist, as we needed to vote on them. Descriptions of the resolutions were available on pages 23-25 of the Nov/Dec WI life magazine. There were five resolutions to discuss and a different committee member gave a short talk/presentation about each. Each short talk was followed by a robust discussion about the resolutions and its fit to the WI’s values and our values. It was agreed to ask members to vote by email and for the secretary Hannah to send an email out requesting votes by Friday 15th Jan 2021. She will then send the completed voting sheet to the federation [post-meeting note – this was completed]. Members who attended agreed that all the discussions had been very interesting and that a number of the resolutions might be repurposed as discussions for future meetings e.g. around ways we can protect nature in our communities, and saving peat bogs.
