November 2018
Highfield WI
November 2018 members’ meeting,
Monday 26th November 2018.
21 members and 2 visitors joined us for our November Craft evening.
Cath welcomed all and gave a few notices; She asked members to sign the ‘permission to use photography, video etc,’ form, which includes use of members photos and sharing their membership details within the WI organisation. She noted we had 2 tickets for the Spring AGM on Tuesday 26th March and hoped a couple of members would attend for us. She reminded members that our Christmas meeting was on Monday 17th December when we would welcome back the Ukofonics ukulele band as well as share savoury buffet food, have a raffle and collect wrapped gifts for the women and children at the Refuge. We will also be sharing a celebratory cake to mark the centenary of the Hampshire Federation.
Cath then explained how the Craft evening would work:
Members were invited to check out the sample decorations the committee had made, and/or the other craft stations, and then decide which work station to head for first. Members were requested to help themselves to tea/coffee & biscuits, which had been set up in the kitchen. Julia asked members to be aware of trailing electrical cables!
The work stations provided all the materials to make
-
paper baubles,
-
cross-stitch cards
-
wine glass candlestick,
-
felt hearts,
-
ribbon Christmas trees,
-
snowmen
-
pine cone tree decorations
Members put their completed items on or next to the white twig tree and were then able to take any completed projects home, once they had been duly admired and photographed.
Committee and other members had also brought along other completed craft makes to show and share.
The completed items made a great display! Members were able to make as many different crafts as they liked and there was much talk and help on offer at each station.
The evening came to an end around 10pm.
